Harnessing Modern Technology for Effective Physiotherapy Outcomes

Accelerate Healing & Reduce Pain: Electrotherapy & Ultrasound in North London

At Physio Fitness, we’re committed to providing the most effective and evidence-based treatments to support your recovery. Our Electrotherapy services, including Therapeutic Ultrasound, offer advanced, non-invasive solutions to manage pain, reduce inflammation, and accelerate the natural healing process. Available at both our Hampstead and Finchley clinics in North London, these modalities complement our hands-on physiotherapy and exercise rehabilitation programmes, helping you achieve faster, more lasting results.

Electrotherapy encompasses a range of treatments that use electrical energy to stimulate healing, relieve pain, and improve function. Therapeutic Ultrasound, a key component, uses sound waves to achieve similar therapeutic benefits. These technologies are often integrated into your personalised treatment plan to enhance your recovery journey.

What to Expect During Your Electrotherapy Session:

Your physiotherapist will determine if Electrotherapy is appropriate for your condition during your assessment. If so, they will explain the chosen modality and how it works.

  • Application: Electrodes (for TENS/IFT/NMES) or a transducer (for Ultrasound) will be placed on or near the affected area.

  • Sensation: You may feel a tingling, buzzing, or warm sensation, which should always be comfortable. Your therapist will adjust the intensity to your tolerance.

  • Duration: Sessions are typically short, ranging from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the modality and your condition.

  • Integrated Care: Electrotherapy is always used as part of a broader physiotherapy programme, complementing manual therapy, exercise, and education for optimal, long-term results.
